                                        EVERYDAY UNN EXPERIENCE

Waking up with noise is now a culture in my hostel. It's either from the preachers or the students struggling for water or the prayers from the mosque ,  all these has become part of being a being a UNN student. scarcity of water, lack  of provision of light, lack of healthy classrooms and environment. Studying in University of Nigeria Nsuuka should be a privilege but I don't know if I'm allowed to say otherwise

On  30th August 2019, I woke up with a splitting headache and the sharp noise of students searching for where to fetch water. that was when I realised that I will soon join the queue because I had 10:00am class. I  climbed down from my bed, gentle enough not to wake my bed mate. I carried my keg "A yellow plastic gallon that is used in fetching water" and four buckets, two for my bed mate and two for me. I went straight to the down floor where the tap is located and found out that there was no water in the tap. We have six taps in my hostel, two are in use while the other two are no longer functional and the two tanks which is our saving grace when the taps stop. I went to the tanks to check if I could fetch water and that was when I discovered that there was no water in Nkurmah. I stood there in confusion, thinking of my next action. In the mist of my confusion I saw other students going to mosque that is across the road, I followed them and we came back disappointed.

However, some girls went to boys hostel, some to PG hostel, some to the fueling station opposite PG hostel and they all came back with disappointed faces, I decided to go back to my room to plug my phone  that was when I realised that there was a black out yesterday when it started raining. I sat quietly on my bed, thinking of how my day will be and the stress I have been through these past few days and how to tell my Dad that I need money for feeding after the last 5000 Naira he sent me last two weeks has finished. And then I was distracted by my roommate's voice saying " they are going outside the gate, behind Madonna to fetch water and some to new Caro through a short cut from Franco ref.

Ambitions

Almost everyone dreams of something while growing up. We all have ambitions when we are little, which change as we grow up. Ambitions lead us to a definite aim in life. Furthermore, they help us focus on our goal no matter the cost. It drives us to do better in life and aim for the Stars . Ambitions differ from one person to another.    However, one common thing that we usually face is that over time, people switch their ambition to something else than that which they wished to be when they are little. We have many people in the medical field who wanted to be dancers. Similarly, some of the greatest politicians wanted to be artists. So we see how easily one gives up on their dreams to adapt to the society and to meet up to our reality By Josué ✍🏽

The darkness within

The darkness within The feeling void The dark sound filled with teary love Powerful sadness binded by Insatisfaction of hope Hope in the essence The light eyes of love Which sees through the soul. The humble rhythm created from the inner emptiness that caresses the soul Light me up oh sound so dark For I'm yours and you are lost in me Sometimes darkness is built by the emptiness of the soul

The Twists in the middle of these Corona stories

The good thing about it it that I have gone to market, so I don’t have to worry for sometime about what to eat because the new rule now is that one is not allowed to leave the cité for more than 30 minutes, if so you will be tested before you can come into the cité. That was the voice I was hearing in my dream only to wake up and realize it was not a dream. It was the voice of my roommate telling her parents about the current situation and that was the news we received in the afternoon from The director through Grace after two students from Cape-cost Ghana were taken to the hospital or one can call it a confinement house.      Some still believe that they won’t get it and on the other hand we were coming up with different propaganda against the nurse. What if she has it ? What if she mistakes flu or malaria for Coronavirus ? What if she’s the primary source for us getting it ? This situation has instilled more fear in everyone. The plan now is that no matter anything ...
